Taitara Mahi - Asset Planner - Buildings & Property

Hastings District Council's Public Spaces & Buildings team is responsible for the planning, delivery, and maintenance of parks, reserves, playgrounds, and public facilities across Hastings. Working closely with contractors and our community, we ensure these spaces are safe, functional, and well cared for, helping to create places where people can connect, relax, and enjoy the district.

As our Asset Planner - Buildings & Property, you will lead the strategic planning and lifecycle management of Council’s building and property assets. You’ll drive optimisation initiatives that ensure our facilities are sustainable, compliant, and cost effective - supporting service delivery that meets both current and future community needs.

Ōu wheako – about you
To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have experience in asset management, ideally across buildings or property 
  • Bring strong analytical and planning capability, including lifecycle and capital planning 
  • Understand construction, contracts, and the building industry 
  • Be confident working with asset systems and data to inform decisions 
  • Demonstrate strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills 
  • Be proactive, organised, and focused on delivering results 
  • Have a relevant qualification in asset management, engineering, property or similar (or equivalent experience)
