Taitara Mahi - Public Spaces Policy Planner

We’re looking for a Public Spaces Policy Planner to join our Community Facilities & Services Group and play a key role in shaping the future of Hastings’ parks, reserves and open spaces. In this role, you’ll support the development of strategic plans, policies and Reserve Management Plans that guide how public spaces are planned, enhanced and managed across the district. You’ll also provide advice on growth and development, work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, and help ensure our open spaces continue to meet the needs of our communities now and into the future.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Bring experience or qualifications in policy planning, parks planning, resource management or a related field
- Have knowledge of policy and planning processes, including research, analysis and strategy development
- Understand the Reserves Act, Resource Management Act and land development processes
- Have experience in community engagement and consultation, and be confident working with a wide range of stakeholders
- Be a strong communicator and strategic thinker who can balance long-term planning with practical community outcomes
