Our high-performing team is seeking a Senior Environmental Policy Planner who is a team player enthusiastic about serving their community, has recent experience in strategy or policy development and great report writing and communication skills. The purpose of the Senior Environmental Policy Planner role is to lead the project management of a range of District Plan policy, strategy or structure planning projects to meet the legal provisions relevant to the resource management activities and responsibilities of the Council, in line with Council’s strategic objectives and policies.
There are opportunities to assist with Regional Spatial Planning, as well as project management of complex private plan changes and lead the preparation and processing of Council initiated plan changes.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- An innovative, adaptable, and practical nature.
- A good sense of humour and a positive approach.
- Ability to work independently and display sound technical judgment and tact in decision making and problem solving.
- Tertiary qualification in Planning, Resource Management or related fields; and must be eligible for full membership of the New Zealand Planning Institute
- Have extensive experience in resource management planning or related discipline, and/or specific experience in Resource Management policy.
- Be able to demonstrate a sound understanding and working knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991, and have experience in processing plan changes, project managing policy development initiatives, and/or processing complex resource consent applications under the Act.
