With 191 parks and reserves, numerous public spaces, and four internationally recognised Green Flag parks, Hastings District Council is proud to care for a wide variety of community assets. From neighbourhood play spaces to landmark destinations such as Cornwall Park, The Village Green and Flaxmere Park, our parks, gardens and public spaces play an important role in enhancing community wellbeing, connection and enjoyment. We are committed to maintaining and improving these spaces, ensuring that they are attractive and welcoming for our residents and visitors.

As part of this commitment, we are looking for a passionate and experienced Landscape Officer to lead landscape and renewal projects that enhance the district parks, reserve, gardens and public spaces. Drawing on your technical knowledge you will support the planning and delivery of landscape and renewal projects. Working alongside contractors, colleagues and community stakeholders to create welcoming environments. You will play a key role in shaping the look and feel of our district, helping ensure our outdoor spaces continue to thrive.  

Ōu wheako – about you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Relevant Level 4 qualification or higher in horticulture, landscape, arboriculture or open space management, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with a focus on delivering quality outcomes within budget.
  • Sound technical judgement and the confidence to provide expert advice and guidance.
