Permanent full-time 41.25 hours per week based on a Monday to Sunday roster
Are you someone who enjoys working with people, likes being active outdoors, and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly? Join us and play an important role in reducing waste, increase recycling, and create a cleaner, more sustainable future.

- Provide friendly, professional service to the public.
- Support waste minimisation and resource recovery programmes.
- Operate site equipment and assist with day-to-day transfer station activities.
- Process transactions and complete kiosk administration tasks.
- Maintain a safe, clean and well-presented site.
- Work alongside a supportive and hardworking team committed to serving our community.
We're less concerned about ticking every box and more interested in finding someone with a positive attitude, strong customer service skills and a willingness to learn.
You might be a great fit if you:
- Enjoy helping people and communicating with a wide range of customers.
- Are reliable, practical and take pride in doing a good job.
- Have experience in customer-facing or operational environments.
- Are comfortable working outdoors and staying active throughout the day.
- Have a strong commitment to health and safety.
- Can work rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Hold a full New Zealand driver's licence.
Experience in waste, recycling, resource recovery, forklift operation or similar industries would be an advantage, but it's not essential.
At Hastings District Council, we're passionate about creating a thriving future for our people and place. We value teamwork, wellbeing, inclusiveness and making a positive difference in our community.
In return, you'll enjoy:
- Meaningful work that benefits the environment and community.
- A supportive team culture.
- Opportunities to learn new skills and develop your career.
- A role where your contribution is genuinely valued.
- The chance to work for an organisation committed to wellbeing and work-life balance.
If you're looking for a hands-on role where you can make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.
