Taitara Mahi - Customer Services Officer

This role is part of the Customer & Engagement Group. The Group includes Customer Services; Hastings and Havelock North i-SITEs; Tōmoana Showgrounds; Marketing & Brand management; Communications & Community engagement.

We are looking for a capable and approachable Customer Services Officer to join our Customer Services team. Reporting to the Team Leader Customer Services, you will be one of the first points of contact for people engaging with Hastings District Council, helping customers find the right information and support at the first point of contact. This is a varied role where you will assist customers by telephone, in person and through written communication. You will respond to enquiries, requests, applications, payments, compliments and complaints with professionalism, accuracy and care. You will investigate enquiries, provide timely responses and connect customers with the appropriate Council officer or contractor when further action is required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

•    Proven ability to deliver outstanding customer experiences across multiple channels
•    High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks
•    Experience in office administration and ability to manage multiple priorities
•    Confidence in using multiple computer systems and learning new technology quickly
•    Proactive approach, ability to problem solve and the initiative to suggest process improvements
•    A positive, team-focused attitude and a desire to learn and achieve excellence
•    Previous contact centre experience is highly valued but not essential
