Taitara Mahi – Health, Safety & Wellbeing Coordinator
Permanent, Full-Time Position
We’re on the lookout for a motivated and proactive Health, Safety & Wellbeing Coordinator to join our team here at Hastings District Council. If you're ready to take the next step in your HSW career, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your experience across a wide range of work environments and be supported by a knowledgeable and down-to-earth team.
In this role, you’ll help drive health, safety and wellbeing initiatives across Council. That means working closely with managers, staff and contractors to support the day-to-day management of risk, encourage a positive safety culture, and provide practical, hands-on training and advice.
No two days are the same – you’ll be out on-site conducting audits and inspections, helping with incident investigations, reviewing and improving procedures, and contributing to ongoing improvements across the organisation. With the guidance of experienced senior team members, you’ll be able to grow your skills and take on a variety of challenges.
Ōu wheako – about you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A recognised tertiary qualification in Health and Safety – or to be actively working towards one
- At least 12 months' experience in a similar H&S role
- Great communication skills and the confidence to influence and engage with others
- A solid understanding of risk management processes, audits, investigations, and reporting
- A practical, hands-on mindset with a genuine commitment to health, safety and wellbeing
