Taitara Mahi - Learning and Discovery Library Assistant

Across our Hastings, Flaxmere and Havelock North Libraries, Hastings District Libraries are centres for lifelong learning and recreation. We offer a wealth of resources and are safe, welcoming and vibrant community spaces. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and outgoing people person to join the Learning and Discovery team.

This is a permanent full-time role (40 hours a week), working Tuesday to Saturday, including a late night on Thursdays and across all three library sites.

As Learning & Discovery Library Assistant, you will support the team by delivering programmes, activities and events spanning our entire customer base, from babies to elderly. This role has three main components: customer service, administration duties such as preparing for events, and the delivery and running of library offerings. With that in mind, this position would suit someone who is not only organized and IT savvy, but also outgoing and not afraid of speaking to groups, telling stories to children, singing and dancing with pēpī or running our epic Nerf Battles.
