Hastings District Council is delivering one of the most significant capital programmes in its history—driven by long-term growth, resilience, and recovery following Cyclone Gabrielle. As part of our newly established Programme Delivery Office, we are looking for a Project Management Assistant. You will play a critical role in supporting project managers, and programme delivery managers to deliver exceptional community outcomes. In this dynamic position, you’ll provide essential support to Programme and Project Managers, ensuring projects run smoothly and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include coordinating activities, managing schedules, maintaining documentation, and facilitating communication between stakeholders. You’ll be a key cog in keeping everyone connected
You’ll assist with procurement, risk identification, and quality assurance, helping projects meet timelines and budgets. This role is perfect for someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach. Experience with project administration, contract management, and familiarity with project management tools will set you up for success.

- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with project teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
- Proven experience in project administration or coordination—ideally within an infrastructure or construction environment.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana) and confidence using digital systems to track progress and resources.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, reporting, and financial tracking.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management, supporting projects to stay on time and within budget.
- Bonus: Familiarity with local authority processes and contract administration.
