Hastings District Council is delivering a major infrastructure programme focused on resilience, growth, and recovery following Cyclone Gabrielle. We’re looking for a Student Assistant to join our 3 Waters team, supporting both the Data and Service Assurance teams.
In this role, you’ll gain experience supporting teams that ensure accurate data and reliable service delivery for the community.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the Data Team with data entry, cleaning, validation, and general administration tasks.
- Supporting the Service Assurance Team with monitoring, reporting, and other tasks to ensure quality and compliance of 3 Waters services.
- Participating in projects that improve data accuracy, reporting, and service outcomes.

To succeed in this role, you will:
- Be studying towards a relevant qualification (e.g., Engineering, Environmental Science, IT, or related).
- Be highly organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Have good communication skills and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment.
- Have attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Be comfortable working with data and undertaking both office and field-based tasks.
Above all, you’re keen to learn, community-focused, and excited to gain experience in the 3 Waters industry or Local Government.
This role sits within the Infrastructure Group, which includes 3 Waters, Transportation, a Delivery Office, and a professional services panel of consultants.
