Whether supporting our organisation-wide financial systems, advising teams across Council, or ensuring our statutory obligations are met, the work of our Financial Accountant is central to the integrity of Hastings District Council’s financial operations. This role is responsible for maintaining high-quality financial reporting, guiding Council on technical accounting matters, and ensuring our compliance and audit processes run smoothly.
This is a full-time role working within our Finance team, contributing to key organisational deliverables such as the Annual Report and the development of new financial systems.
Ōu wheako – about you
To be successful in this role you will be:
- Experienced in financial accounting and statutory reporting
- Confident interpreting complex accounting guidance and applying it to real-world scenarios
- Highly capable in Microsoft Excel, with experience using large financial information systems (TechOne desirable)
- An effective communicator with strong report-writing skills
- Able to build strong relationships across Council while ensuring financial information is accurate and timely
- Qualified with an accounting degree or similar professional credential
