Taitara Mahi - Kaitiaki
Permanent Part-time

Hastings District Council’s Kaitiaki help create safe, welcoming spaces for everyone who uses our facilities. You’ll see them at pools, libraries, and other community spaces—being a friendly, reassuring presence and stepping in when support is needed.

We’re looking for approachable, level-headed people who enjoy working with others and want to make a positive difference in their community. This is a great entry-level role if you’re confident around people, good at reading situations, and comfortable speaking up when something doesn’t feel right.

In this role, you’ll spend your time interacting with visitors, keeping an eye on what’s happening around you, and working closely with Council staff. You’ll help prevent issues before they escalate and support people to enjoy Council spaces safely and respectfully. Full training and support will be provided.

This is a permanent part-time role, working a minimum of 25 hours per week, including regular weekend work. It offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to build valuable skills in communication, teamwork, and conflict management.
